THE PLACE

Ebo Town?

The Ebo Town community is one of the poorest communities in The Gambia, with a population of 70,000. It is prone to flooding during the wet season and lacks basic access to good infrastructure. The charity emphasises on improving education in the local community. There is an existing sponsorship programme from just £25 per year per child, which would contribute to staff wages, uniforms and educational materials for the local community school.

THE OUTCOME

£6000+ raised

I personally raised more than half of the £6000 donated by my Sixth Form through sorting, organising and the sales of second-hand books. The funds provided one-year worth of education to more than 100 children. By introducing e-payments and a new price scheme that differentiated book prices for different conditions, I was able to make my products more price competitive, thus, more appealing to my target customers.
